Q: What is the 'rule of thumb' of Esmolol dose in heart rate (HR) control of Atrial fibrillation?


A; Following intravenous infusion of esmolol for 30 minutes with dose of:

• 50 mcg/kg per minute HR drop by 8%
• 100 mcg/kg per minute HR drop by 11%
• 150 mcg/kg per minute HR drop by 14%
• 200 and above mcg/kg per minute HR drop by 15%
